The Black September


Black September is the term that used by human rights activist to refer the meaning of the rough month. It causes the multitude of inhumane affair and human rights infraction cases that occured in this month. As of the tragedy of G30SPKI on 30th September 1965-1966, the tragedy of Tanjung Priok on 12th September 1984, the tragedy of Semanggi II on 24th September 1999, the murder of Munir Said Thalib on 7th September 2004, and the tragedy of corrupted the reformation causes the revision of KPK constitution on 24th September 2019.

Thus far, that affairs are unfinished justly by country and accentuaded the principles of human rights that uphold the dignity of victims. Some dark affairs of human rights on September month into time are still true in the memories of Indonesian history and remind the country to fulfill their responsibilities.

Therefore, September month usually used by activists to carry on some activities that oriented to the contest of exhaust the serious human rights infraction cases and to claim a justice from government for victims family that haven’t found a brigh spot yet.

Black September momentum usually fills up with the series of discussion activity, demonstration action, and socialization. In short, this activities intend to keep our memories about the dark history of this nation and also become the reflection for us that the human rights enforcement in Indonesia not progress ideally yet.
